WHS Girls Star For Caithness U15s Rugby In National Final
A number of our girls have been proudly representing Caithness Rugby in the past few months, culminating in them reaching the National Final at the home of Scottish Rugby, Murrayfield. Sinclair Dunnett, who coaches the team, told us more:
“Devin Stuart (Captain), Aiva Harper, Abbie Munro, Chloe O’Neill, Ellie Anderson, Farrah Mackay, Gemma Dunnet, Kirsty Robertson and Kara Cormack have all been part of the Caithness Girls Rugby team who travelled all over Scotland and successfully won all their matches to secure a place in the Finals against Stirling County. The girls team is made up of players from schools in Thurso, Stromness, Kirkwall, Canisbay, Tain and Golspie. The fact that they meet up to train and travel is a massive achievement in its self.
Win, lose or draw this has been a very successful season for the girls and rugby in Caithness and hopefully with everyone’s support we can continue to build. All being well I hope to write again asking for space in the trophy cabinet!”
Since writing to us the team went to Edinburgh for the big game. Kirsty Robertson told us about the experience:
“We travelled to Edinburgh for the National Cup Final in great form having beaten Jordanhill Hillhead in the semi final 19-50. Sadly, although we played well, it was not our day and we were defeated by a good Stirling County side. Our season is now over and we are currently in pre-season conditioning ready for the next challenge.”
Well done to all the girls and the coaches on this fantastic achievement.
